Returning to Balance: Indigenous Women's Domestic Violence Workshop

This six-session online workshop series is designed to empower Indigenous women through culturally grounded learning, meaningful connection, and holistic healing. It provides a safe, welcoming, and supportive space where women with lived experience, community members, and emerging advocates can come together to share stories, build relationships, and learn from one another in a spirit of mutual support and respect.

Throughout the series, participants will explore topics that strengthen personal well-being and resilience, including recognizing patterns of violence and coercive control, understanding trauma and its effects on the mind and body, establishing healthy boundaries, navigating difficult conversations with confidence, creating personalized safety plans, and rebuilding self-worth, confidence, and self-determination. The program also nurtures peer support and advocacy skills, equipping participants to become trusted sources of encouragement, knowledge, and leadership within their families and communities.

Rooted in Indigenous values of connection, respect, and collective care, this initiative supports healing while building stronger, more resilient communities. By fostering individual growth alongside community capacity, the program helps prevent violence, strengthens support networks, and contributes to safer, healthier futures for Indigenous women, families, and communities across Duncan and Vancouver Island.
