The Fire Within Her: An Indigenous Women's Domestic Violence Workshop

This six-session online workshop series is a welcoming space created by and for Indigenous women to connect, learn, heal, and grow together. Grounded in culture, connection, and collective care, the series brings together Indigenous women with lived experience, community members, stories and strengths while building meaningful relationships and supporting one another.

Through open conversations, practical activities, and culturally meaningful learning, participants will explore ways to strengthen wellness, resilience, confidence, and self-determination. Sessions will explore topics such as recognizing patterns of violence and control, understanding how trauma can affect the mind, body, and spirit, creating healthy boundaries, navigating challenging conversations, developing personalized safety plans, and rebuilding a strong sense of self-worth and empowerment.

Rooted in Indigenous teachings of connection, respect, reciprocity, and collective responsibility, this initiative recognizes that healing is both personal and collective. When women are supported to strengthen their voices, wellness, and sense of agency, they can help strengthen the networks of care around them.

Together, we can build stronger connections, increase community capacity, and support pathways toward healing and violence prevention, helping create safer, healthier, and more resilient futures for Indigenous women, families, and communities across Duncan and Vancouver Island.
