Toronto Virtual Ribbon Skirt Workshop: Stitching Stories-The Art and Meaning of Ribbon Skirts

Join Jayce Harry for an inspiring virtual class where you’ll explore the rich cultural meaning of ribbon skirts and learn how to make one yourself on June 18th from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm PST

More than just clothing, ribbon skirts carry the stories of identity, resilience, and deep rooted cultural pride. In this workshop, Jayce will guide you through the spiritual and historical significance of ribbon skirts among Indigenous nations such as the Mi'kmaq, Cree, and Ojibwe. Sharing how colours, designs, and placement reflect teachings, family ties, and lived experiences.

You'll learn the history and the basics of designing and how to create your own ribbon skirt on your own! You will not need any materials for this session. Whether you're a beginner or experienced with sewing, this is a welcoming space for anyone eager to connect with tradition through creativity.

This is more than a class, it's a celebration of culture, community, and creation.

Come get ready to learn and carry the story forward. One ribbon at a time.
