Leading the Change: Women’s Healthcare Summit Whitepaper
This whitepaper captures key findings from SNIWWOC’s Leading the Change: A Women’s Healthcare Leadership Summit, held in Victoria, BC, on March 27, 2026. The summit brought together healthcare workers, community leaders, educators, advocates, and people with lived experience to examine structural, cultural, and interpersonal barriers to equity in healthcare.
Drawing on facilitated discussions with 140 participants, the whitepaper explores issues including psychological safety, systemic racism and inequity, leadership representation, cultural safety, burnout and emotional labour, and barriers to advancement. It concludes with actionable recommendations for healthcare organizations, leaders, educators, and policymakers working toward more equitable, culturally safe, and inclusive healthcare systems.
