This six-session online workshop series is created to support and empower Indigenous women through culturally meaningful learning, connection, and pathways toward healing. The series offers a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where Indigenous women with lived experience, community members, and emerging leaders can gather to share knowledge, exchange experiences, strengthen relationships, and support one another through a foundation of respect and collective care.
Participants will engage in conversations and activities focused on strengthening personal wellness, resilience, and self-determination. Topics will include identifying patterns of violence and control, understanding the impacts of trauma on the mind, body, and spirit, building healthy boundaries, developing confidence in challenging conversations, creating individualized safety plans, and restoring a sense of self-worth and empowerment. The program also focuses on developing peer support and advocacy skills, helping participants become sources of guidance, encouragement, and leadership within their families and communities.
Grounded in Indigenous teachings of connection, respect, and collective responsibility, this initiative creates opportunities for healing while strengthening community capacity. By supporting individual growth and fostering stronger networks of care, the program contributes to violence prevention efforts and helps create safer, healthier, and more resilient futures for Indigenous women, families, and communities throughout Duncan and Vancouver Island.
