Toronto Virtual Ribbon Skirt Workshop: Woven with Meaning: Reviving Tradition One Stitch at a Time

Step into a world of creativity and culture with Jayce Harry, a passionate, self taught sewist dedicated to preserving and sharing Indigenous traditions through the art of sewing on June 23rd from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm PST. Jayce’s beautiful journey includes crafting stunning button blankets, vests, aprons, and quilts, all woven with heartfelt stories and meaning. As a proud mother of a Cree child eager to start dancing, Jayce understands the importance of connecting culture through creative expression. Ribbons skirts hold deep significance in Indigenous dancing, especially powwows and other traditional ceremonies.

She did her practicum from NEC with SNIWWOC and continued her work with other organizations on the Lower Mainland. Now, Jayce is thrilled to share knowledge on this rich tradition back home, directly to your screen!

Whether you're just picking up a needle for the first time or looking to expand your sewing skills, this workshop welcomes you with open arms. In this session, you won't need any materials. Jayce will simply introduce you to different materials and techniques, you could use to create your own ribbon skirt in the future.

Don’t miss this chance to discover how you can one day stitch your story into tradition. Reserve your spot today and be a part of something truly meaningful!
