Meet our facilitator Jayce:

Jayce Cecile is coast salish from the tla'amin nation. She always had a passion for her culture and started learning everything she could at a young age. Jayce has been beading since she was 5 years old. Now, at 26 years she has taught herself how to sew ribbon skirts and leads workshops helping others learn this sacred practice. Her oldest daughter is part cree, and she wanted to learn how to dance. Being a single mom of 3, Jayce couldn't afford to buy skirts much less 3 dresses. She went to many elders and teachers when she started to learn about Ribbon Skirt making. Knowing the history and importance of Ribbon skirts was just as important as the sewing and creation of the skirts to Jayce. Thus far, she has enjoyed her journey with ribbon skirts and can't wait to share what she's learned with others!
