The Racialized LGBTQ Health Experience

The Canadian Human Rights Act included sexual orientation as one of the prohibited grounds of discrimination in 1996. Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms Section 15 also states that everyone is considered equal regardless of religion, race, national or ethnic origin, colour, sex, age or physical or mental disability. However, the racialized LGBTQ individuals continue to face discrimination and hardship despite the laws.

We will be having an open and honest talk about the intersections of LGBTQ identities and healthcare in Canada. Our guest speakers are healthcare specialist, LGBTQ mental health specialist and LGBTQ individual. They will be sharing their knowledge and experiences and you have time to ask questions to our speakers after their talks.

All are welcome to attend and take part in our event, but please take note that this discussion is meant to be a safe space for all individuals.

This event is made possible thanks to funding from the Canadian Red Cross and the Government of Canada.
